Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)

Born in Rohrau, Austria

He started composing as a teenager.

He played the harpsichord, organ, and violin.

He taught himself how to compose music.

On May 1, 1761, Haydn started working for the Esterházy family.
The Esterházy family was a family of nobles.
He started out as an assistant and was responsible for the care of the music and instruments.
