Louis Hector Berlioz (1803-1869)

Born in La Côte-St. André, France

His father was a doctor.

He learned flute and guitar when he was young.

When he was 18, he went to medical school in Paris. He did not like medical school so he started music school.

His father did not want him to study music so he quit sending his son money.

Berlioz worked as a chorus singer and taught flute and guitar lessons to support himself.

He wrote a lot of music but he is most famous for his Symphonie fantastique.

The piece of music tells the story of a young man in love and what happens to him in real life and in his dreams.
