String Family
The sound is produced in string instruments by the string or strings vibrating.

Short, thin, + tight strings = high sound

Long, thick, + loose strings = low sound

Strings can be bowed, plucked or strummed.

Strings instruments are normally made out of wood because wood vibrates well.

Pizzicato - plucking the strings
Double stop - playing two or more strings at the same time
Glissando - sliding between notes
Plectrum - something used to pluck the strings
